PlayStation 5 handles some games better than Xbox Series X, and Microsoft is worried about it

Despite its power, the Xbox Series X does not outperform the PlayStation 5 in new-gen enhanced games. In addition, in some projects, the Sony console performs better.

Teraflops do not solve

Digital Foundry acquired next-generation consoles from Sony and Microsoft, and began testing multi-platform projects. It turned out that there was a difference in performance, and not in favor of the Xbox Series X.

For example, Devil May Cry 5 for the new generation, when launched in enhanced graphics mode, performs almost the same on both consoles, and the Xbox Series X even shows a little more FPS. Still, in the higher frame rate mode, the PlayStation 5 is far ahead, and in some scenes the difference is about 40%.

Testing on Assassin's Creed Valhalla consoles, Digital Foundry found the PS5 version to be more stable than the Series X, with an average of 15 percent performance advantage.

“I can't technically explain this, other than the feeling that the PlayStation 5 is performing better than expected, and something is wrong with the Xbox, which, at least on paper, should be way ahead,” says Richard Leadbetter of Digital. Foundry.

In a comment for The Verge , Microsoft acknowledged performance issues on the Xbox Series S | X and promised to address it:

“We Are Aware of Performance Issues in Several Optimized Xbox Series X Games | S, and we actively work with our partners to identify and solve problems to ensure optimal performance. "
